Scottish historical art print Battle of Culloden limited edition military art print by Chris Collingwood. After the battle of Falkirk, the Jacobite army marched towards Inverness closely followed by the Duke of Cumberland's English army. On 16th April 1746, the Duke forced a confrontation at Culloden Moor. The Jacobite army were outnumbered and outmaneuvered by Cumberland's army and when they turned to flee they were cut down by the Royal Cavalry. The Duke earned the nickname the Butcher because of his ruthless slaughter of the Jacbites at Culloden Moor. |
